Gisanga washing station is located in the Southern Province of Rwanda, in the Mbuye Sector of the Ruhango District. The mills owners the Tropic Coffee Company, work with more than 850 coffee producers grouped under the Koapamby Cooperative, who provide only ripe cherries from their bourbon trees. The workers at Gisanga use water from a local spring for sorting and processing cherries, locally referred to as ‘Theresa’s Natural Spring’.For this Anaerobic fermentation, the coffee cherries are fermented between 24-72 hours in closed tanks before drying on raised beds under direct sun for 30 days. Besides being a very delicious coffee, we are excited to feature this coffee due to the focus of the Tropic Coffee Company on the sustainable use of natural resources and community development.
